The e-government law came into force on March 1, 2004, thus creating in all of Austria the appropriate basic conditions for dealings with the authorities via the Net (e-government) and also a broad basis for use of the citizen card concept.
You can use your bank card as a citizen card. Even your e-card (health card) can be employed as a citizen card and be used as a digital signature. Your mobile phone can also be used as a citizen card (A1 signature).
In May 2006 the Lienz council launched the buergerportal.at, a new way to communicate with the local administration; safe – easy to use - fast – 24/7 – worldwide. Try it.
