This service is designed to give you a completely new access to the functions of the authorities and institutions. The Internet also enables issue-related access to these services. Access is user-friendly and easy to remember as it is based on your particular situation as a private or business client of the administration.
The e-government law came into force on March 1, 2004, thus creating in all of Austria the appropriate basic conditions for dealings with the authorities via the Net (e-government) and also a broad basis for use of the citizen card concept.
Citizen Card You can use your bank card as a citizen card. Even your e-card (health card) can be employed as a citizen card and be used as a digital signature. Your mobile phone can also be used as a citizen card (A1 signature).
In May 2006 the Lienz council launched the buergerportal.at, a new way to communicate with the local administration; safe – easy to use - fast – 24/7 – worldwide. Try it.
A word of warning about PHISHING. Unfortunately, people are constantly being asked via e-mail to provide credit card details, bank account information, transaction numbers (TAN) or passwords. Please remember that neither banks, credit card companies nor public institutions ever request such data per e-mail. Delete these e-mails immediately and never divulge any such information.
