Upper Old Town – Town Centre Revitalisation Project
Revitalising the centre of Lienz in the course of a co-ordinated and planned town centre development through public-private partnership between municipal council and town businesses. By means of motivation, information and example setting the business and service providers are encouraged by the Lienz Town Marketing to actively support common programmes and to co-operate on these – Upper Old Town Shopping Centre - and are able to benefit from comprehensive guide planning and take an active part in the centre management. Furthermore, Lienz Town Marketing has adopted the role of manager of the entrepreneurial co-operation, which is organized as a society.

Lienz Town Market
The weekly market with fresh produce is at one and the same time a visitor magnet and a source of supply for the town centre. The concept, which was drawn up with the help of the Lienz Town Marketing, includes professional market management for the 18 standardized stalls. The market management is comparable to the centre management of a shopping centre and nothing is left to chance. Lienz Town Marketing has been managing the town market for 6 years now.

Cycling Package Innichen – Lienz
Begun by Lienz Town Marketing 9 years ago this project brings lots of visitors and is an economic driving force for the town of Lienz.

Here are a few facts and figures:

• Increase in volume of cyclists: 500% (1997: 15,000 cyclists – 2005: 85,000)
  Additional turnover volume: € 1,020,000 for the businesses in the town centre
• Leisure facilities & infrastructure: 30,000 additional visitors and customers to the leisure facilities, baths, aerial ropeways, Schloss Bruck museum
• Incentive for microeconomic activities: regionally effective investments, re-investments by the businesses,…
• Railway (ÖBB) link secured 
• Additional offers such as senior citizens’ route, children’s programme, adventure trails etc.
• Image, popularity: 85,000 people have discovered the town/region and its business potential – reaching so many through advertising would be much more expensive, loss due to scattershot approach…
• Customer commitment instrument: each cyclist gets a certificate stating distance covered when Lienz is reached

Advent in Lienz
The Christmas Market in Lienz is the most traditional one in Tyrol, with the exception of the Innsbruck one. More than 60 events accompany the Lienz Advent, giving it a very special regional touch. Right in front of the Liebburg, our town hall, in the main square with its Christmas illuminations, the Lienz Christmas Market opens on the Friday before the first Sunday in Advent. For 30 days the town is transformed into an idyllic, romantic Advent fairy tale at the foot of the Lienz Dolomites, with customs, regional character and festive buzz creating a unique atmosphere.

Lienz Old-Town Festival
The Lienz Old-Town Festival is the climax of the summer series of events. Hospitality, love of one’s birthplace, zest for life and the honest desire to be a genuine platform for communication and regional awareness have made the Lienz Old-Town Festival the meeting place for friends, good-humoured guests and visitors alike. It has become the thing to do on the second weekend in August; meet friends in the town centre of Lienz, listen to the unplugged music, enjoy the culinary specialities with friends and thousands of visitors and turn the town centre into a huge stage for customs, culture and international flair.

OLALA International Street Theatre
The Lienz International Street Theatre OLALA will be staged for the 15th time this year. It is East Tyrol’s biggest cultural event, a summer theatre festival that has received international acclaim. For 5 days cabaret of the finest is presented against the backdrop of the capital of the Dolomites. The OLALA festival in Lienz always has something new to offer.

Lienz learns Italian
With its ‘Learn Italian’ project the Lienz Town Marketing launched an image campaign for Lienz to raise its attractiveness. Speaking the language of our customers….
